Circulating Inhibin A and Inhibin B in Normal Menstrual Cycle during Breeding Seasons of Japanese Monkeys

چکیده
In order to clarify the endocrinological profiles of inhibins during normal menstrual cycles in Japanese monkeys, plasma concentrations of inhibin A and inhibin B were measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. In addition, circulating gonadotropins and steroid hormones were measured. Blood samples were taken from four Japanese monkeys showing normal menstrual cycles. Plasma inhibin A remained low during the early follicular phase but was high during the luteal phase. Plasma inhibin B was high in the early follicular phase, but fell during the late follicular phase, and remained low during the luteal phase. A significant inverse correlation was observed between plasma concentrations of inhibin B and FSH during the mid-follicular phase, but not between inhibin A and FSH. Plasma inhibin A showed a significant positive correlation with progesterone in the normal menstrual cycle. These results suggest that inhibin B during mid-follicular phase is mainly involved in the suppression of FSH secretion from the pituitary gland, and also that the main source of inhibin A during the luteal phase is corpora lutea in normal menstrual cycle of Japanese monkeys.

Secretion of inhibin A and inhibin B throughout pregnancy and the early postpartum period in chimpanzees.
Plasma concentrations of inhibin A and inhibin B during pregnancy and early lactation in chimpanzees were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Plasma samples were taken from five pregnant chimpanzees at 6-9, 10, 20 and 25 weeks of pregnancy, and following parturition. Throughout pregnancy and the early postpartum period, circulating inhibin A and inhibin B concentrations rem...
متن کاملAge-related analysis of inhibin A, inhibin B, and activin a relative to the intercycle monotropic follicle-stimulating hormone rise in normal ovulatory women.
Previous studies have reported that the monotropic rise in FSH in older women is associated with decreased inhibin B and/or A levels and increased levels of activin A. Whereas most investigators have found decreased follicular-phase inhibin B, the roles of inhibin A and activin A as modulators of the FSH rise are unclear. The objectives of this study were to determine whether deficiencies in ci...

This study investigated the estrogenic effect of Pueraria mirifica (P. mirifica) on menstrual cycle length and hormone-related ovarian function. Nine normal cyclic monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) were separated into 3 groups; each group was force fed with a single dose of 10, 100, and 1,000 mg of P. mirifica. The experimental schedule was separated into the pre-treatment and post-treatment period...

OBJECTIVE Inhibins and activins are members of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily and are known to modulate the growth and differentiation of several cell types. The present study investigated the localization of inhibin and activin subunits in human normal and pathological breast tissues. DESIGN A cross-sectional study comparing the expression of inhibin/activin subunits alpha, ...
متن کاملThe endocrine and follicular growth dynamics throughout the menstrual cycle in women with consistently or variably elevated early follicular phase FSH compared with controls.
BACKGROUND Elevated early follicular phase (EFP) FSH is frequently observed in subfertile patients. In these women, temporary normalization of FSH concentrations is known to occur. We studied the complete endocrine cycle profile of subfertile young women with elevated basal FSH compared with controls. METHODS Daily bloodsampling and ultrasound monitoring in the follicular phase was performed in...
